(Morrisville, NY- Sept. 10, 2013) The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has named Morrisville State College women’s soccer players, Bailey Rutan (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) and Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) the athletes of the week for the week ending September 8.

Rutan was chosen as the conference’s offensive player of the week following her clutch performance for the Mustangs. The freshman forward scored two-game winning goals on the week to help Morrisville State snap a pair of losing streaks. Rutan notched her first collegiate goal in double overtime in a thrilling 1-0 victory over Southern Vermont on Wednesday, and followed with what proved to be the game winner late in the second half against Wells on Saturday.

The graduate of Cincinnatus High is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Catherine and Randy Rutan of Cincinnatus.

Marriott earned co-defensive player of the week honors following a pair of victories as goalkeeper for the Mustangs. In a 2-0 week in net, she made 12 stops and posted a .923 save percentage. Marriott opened the week with an eight-save shutout over Southern Vermont in 104 minutes of action, making a huge stop on a point-blank shot in the second overtime period to secure the Mustangs first victory since the 2011 season. She followed that with a four-save performance against Wells, a 2-1 conference victory.

The graduate of Hendrick Hudson High is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Debby and Darren Marriott of Peekskill.
