(Reading, Pa. – Oct. 6, 2013) The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team suffered a heartbreaker Sunday afternoon as host Penn State Berks posted a 2-1 comeback win over the visitors in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The loss is the second straight for the Mustangs in as many days, and drops them to 7-4 overall, 5-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action, while Berks improves to 10-2-1 overall, and remain undefeated in conference play at 8-0.
Krista Baxter (Downsville, N.Y.) posted the first tally of the day, giving Morrisville State the early 1-0 lead in the 18th minute as she chipped the feed from Bailey Rutan (Cincinnatus, N.Y.) past the Berks keeper for the score.
Morrisville State held the one goal lead after the first half, but within minutes into the second, Berks posted the equalizer and minutes later the go ahead score for the eventual conference win.
Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) turned away 15 in the loss as the Nittany Lions held the 36-7 advantage in shots on the day.
Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, Oct. 12, traveling to Keuka College.
