(Canastota, NY – Oct. 2013) The Canastota Community Chest annual campaign is underway. The Board of Directors has established a goal for the 2013/2014 campaign of $55,000 to continue its support of sponsored agencies.

Non-profit agencies that provide needed programs to the people in the greater Canastota area are experiencing a reduction in government funding while seeing an unprecedented increase in the number of requests for services from local residents.

The Board is committed to keeping contributed dollars in the Canastota community. A tax-deductible donation allows Loaves and Fishes to provide a hot lunch the last full week of every month.

It enables Hospice to provide care and comfort to a patient or family home.

It offers the local Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops the ability to provide leadership experiences to youth in the community.

It makes possible the Opportunity Shop to fill the shelves of its food pantry and allows the Madison County Children’s Camp to offer camp programs at Camp Lookout to children who would otherwise not be able to participate.

Sponsored agencies include: American Red Cross Madison/Oneida Chapter, Boy Scouts of America – Revolutionary Trails Council, Canastota Boy Scouts, Canastota Canal Town Corporation, Canastota Children’s Council, Canastota Recreation Commission, Catholic Charities Oneida/Madison Counties, Celebration Children’s Center of Canastota Inc., Community Action Program for Madison County, Girl Scouts – Foothills Council, Great Swamp Conservancy, Heritage Farm, Hospice & Palliative Care, Jim Marshall Farms Foundation, Loaves and  Fishes Hospitality Center, Madison Cortland ARC, Madison County 4-H Foundation, Madison County Children’s Camp, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Ride for Life Equine and Family Center, The Opportunity Shop, Victims of Violence and Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association.

This year’s campaign will conclude Nov. 15. A tax-deductible donation made payable to Canastota Community Chest Inc. can be mailed to PO Box 9, Canastota, NY 13032.
