One-quarter of Board of Supervisors Turns Over
(Madison County, NY –Nov. 2013) Unofficial results in the Nov. 5 general election have longtime Lenox Supervisor Rocco J. “Rocky” DiVeronica unseated by challenger Joseph John Pinard. Pinard will join four other new supervisors around the horseshoe in Wampsville in January, part of a one-quarter turnover of sitting supervisors this election cycle.
Republican Denise Roe won the race for County Clerk; she is the second woman to hold the office, the first being Mary Webber in 1922, who died in office that same year.
Brookfield: incumbent Republican John Salka returns to the office of town supervisor after again successfully defending the seat from challenger Joshua Haar.
Eaton: Republican Cliff Moses defeated Democrat Ray Lewandowski for Eaton Town Supervisor; the seat is being vacated by retiring Republican Supervisor Priscilla Suits.
Fenner: Republican Dave Jones won the seat of supervisor in the town of Fenner, succeeding veteran Supervisor Russell Cary, who announced his retirement earlier this fall. Challenger Carl Snow of the Fenner Neighbors party fell short by about 20 votes.
Georgetown: Councilman Paul “Pete” Walrod (D) pulled out a win against Bart Chapin (R) for the seat of supervisor after the retirement of Supervisor David L. Coye at year’s end.
Madison: Supervisor Ronald Bono returns to his seat after a hearty challenge by David Sonn of the Madison Unity Party.
Oneida: Mayor A. Max Smith returns to his seat in the city of Oneida. Also in Oneida, sitting Democratic supervisors James V. Rafte, Sr., and Lewis Carinci return to their seats representing Wards 4, 5 and 6 at the county after a good showing by challenger Michael Kaiser.
All results as of press time are unofficial; military ballots are scheduled to be counted this week.
