12-1 moya005bWith Moya Brennan: An Irish Christmas

(Oneida, NY – Nov. 2013) The Earlville Opera House presents its third concert to celebrate women at the forefront of Celtic music with the Moya Brennan Band from Ireland.

EOH travels to the city of Oneida on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. to present this concert artist.  Moya Brennan is the Voice of Clannad and the First Lady of Celtic music.  The concert will feature two harps, fiddle, guitar, piano and percussion.  It is the first EOH event in Oneida and will be at the Oneida High School Auditorium at 560 Seneca St, Oneida.

Moya Brennan is a Grammy Award-winning Celtic singer. When Bono stated recently, “I think she has one of the greatest voices the human ear has ever experienced,” he was heralding what many people know already about The Voice of Clannad, Moya Brennan. The band Clannad, held in high esteem for their vast contribution to modernizing old Irish songs, is considered the inventors of contemporary Celtic music. Brennan was at the forefront of the group’s success and her voice suddenly became synonymous with Celtic and Irish music.

Brennan recorded 17 albums with Clannad and has won a Grammy, a BAFTA and an Ivor Novello award with the quintet. Her sister also sung a while with Clannad; launching a very successful solo career under the name Enya.

This year Moya and Clannad have returned to the studio for the first time in 15 years to release their 18th album Nádúr.

An Irish Christmas will feature Aisling Jarvis on Guitar/Bouzouki, Feargal Murray on Keyboards, Moya Brennan on Vocals/Harp, Cormac Debarra on Harp/Bodhran (Irish drum) and Pat Mangan on Fiddle.

Harpist and television presenter Cormac de Barra.and Moya Brennan have also recorded a duo project together called: Voice And Harps.

For the Irish Christmas program, Moya and her ensemble of Irish musicians will be drawing on a rich selection of traditional Irish and European Christmas songs and carols as well as her solo and Clannad repertoire.

“Ireland is changing rapidly but one thing that remains constant is our love of music and wanting the whole world to hear it. I love being part of that,” Moya said.

Advance tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for youth, with $2 added on the day of the show.  For advance tickets or more information at the www.earlvilleoperahouse.com or call the EOH at (315) 691-3550.
