(Chittenango, NY) Alyssa Crane, a senior at Chittenango High School, traveled to Detroit, Mich., for the Amateur Athletic Union Karate Junior Olympics. She competed at the Black Belt level in Kobudo (weapons) and Sanbon Kumite (three-point sparring), where she earned silver medals, and in Kata (forms), where she took a bronze medal.

She was coached by Sensei Marvin Labbate and assistant coach Nicholas Labbate.

Representing CNY Karate and Kobudo Schools from East Syracuse, she first competed at the AAU National Karate Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio, in June and brought home bronze medals in Kobudo and Ippon Kumite (one-point sparring). Alyssa, along with 21 other karate athletes from CNY Karate and Kobudo Schools brought home 27 medals from Nationals.
