(Munnsville, NY) State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli presented checks to nine Central New Yorkers today at the New York State Fair at his Office of Unclaimed Funds booth. The largest check, for $13,864.54 for an old bank account, was given to the Fryer Memorial Library in Munnsville.
“There is more than $40 million in unclaimed funds waiting to be claimed by Onondaga County residents, businesses and municipalities alone,” DiNapoli said. “This money belongs to the rightful owners and we want to give it back.
“It’s important that everyone take the time to search the website to see if there is any lost or forgotten money in their name. In this economy, every dollar counts.”
New Yorkers may check for unclaimed funds at osc.state.ny.us or by calling toll free at 800.221.9311.
