(Canastota, NY – Nov. 2013) Canastota High School literally rolled out the red carpet for the launch of another season of The Canastota Apprentice in conjunction with the Canastota High School Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Installation of Officers and Induction Ceremony.
Destiny Swanson, the current Canastota Apprentice and Ms. Ragan, the advisor of the Apprentice program, led the launch of the Apprentice.
Derick Trost, New York State Vice President of District 7 and Ms. Garofalo, FBLA advisor led the FBLA induction and installation. Members of the Apprentice and FBLA were introduced and presented with a certificate of membership.
FBLA officers were also installed at this meeting during a candle lighting ceremony. A red carpet was rolled out and students, parents, administrators and guests walked the red carpet with pride that Friday evening, Nov. 8. Members and guests entered into a candlelit reception area prior to the ceremony.
Destiny Swanson gave advice to the upcoming Apprentice candidates. Destiny also announced that she would be appearing as a judge this season. She stated that the program may be challenging at times, but also spoke of the rewards and priceless experiences that can be gained through this program.
Many honored guests attended this event, including a representative from SUNY Oswego, and two representatives from SUNY Oswego’s Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, FBLA’s Collegiate level.
The program ended with an inspiring speech by Mrs. Mary Reina, recipient of New York State FBLA’s Business Person of the year award for 2013. Her advice to students: “…don’t burn your bridges, and don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t.”
