Polar Express 2013A special guest at last year’s Polar Express pajama party is expected to return for the annual family event at 6:30 Friday Dec. 13 at the New Woodstock Free Library.  Donations of gently used toys for Project Cafe will be accepted at the library through Dec. 8.

(New Woodstock, NY – Dec. 2013) Once again this year in cooperation with Project Café, the library is a drop-off place for gently used toys, books, puzzles and games. This is an opportunity to clean out your children’s toys before Christmas and help others at the same time.  Take donations to the library during business hours.

On Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. the library is featuring the award winning book and movie The Polar Express, written by Chris Van Allsburg.  It’s the library’s annual Polar Express pajama party.  Following the movie there will be a visit by a special guest and cookies with milk or cider.   Family movie night is the third Friday of every month, but for this month only has been combined with the Polar Express event, and will be held on Dec. 13, the second Friday, instead of the third.

Youth Services Coordinator Kelly Roberts said the library is adding special children’s events like the “Polar Express” in response to increased attendance at story hour and other youth programs.  “The toy drive and family seasonal movie are annual library events, and there is a children’s story hour every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon,” Roberts said.  “Children will always find a place to study at the library, and thousands of books and other materials to borrow,” Roberts added.
