COLGATE C-GATERaiders Forward Selected Patriot Player of Week After Double-Double Average in Two Victories

 By John Painter

(Hamilton, NY – Dec. 9, 2013) Two wins and nearly a pair of double-doubles helped Colgate’s Carole Harris earn CollegeSportsMadness.com’s Patriot League Player of the Week.

Harris posted 10 points and matched her career high with 11 rebounds to help the Raiders past Drexel 65-60 in a midweek home game. She then scored 19 points and grabbed nine boards in a 72-44 waltz at Columbia that was Colgate’s largest road victory in more than a decade.

The junior forward’s double-double against Drexel was her second of the season, both coming in Raider triumphs.

“Carole sparked two great program wins with her efforts on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor,” Raiders head coach Nicci Hays Fort said. “She’s off to a great start to the season and has earned this recognition.”

Harris, from Lansing, Mich., leads the team and climbed to fourth among Patriot League rebounding average leaders at 8.4. She’s 10th in the conference in steals at 1.3, and 15th in scoring at 11.8. In addition, Harris leads Colgate with seven blocked shots.

The Raiders (3-5) play again Saturday at Robert Morris (3-4) in a 5 p.m. start.
