Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Elementary-school students will learn from Youth Librarian Michele Ryan the old-time art of making fancy snowflakes out of paper.

Volunteer tech advisors will be on hand to help users set up and adapt their devices, from iPads to tablets to smart phones. No appointment is needed.

AARP’s Drivers Safety Class

The AARP offers its Drivers Safety Class to licensed drivers 50 years and older for potential discounts in car insurance. To register, call Bob Fish at 363-0455.

Jen Herzog of Herkimer County Community College reveals how the Inuit Eskimos survive their harsh winters through the mysterious properties of blubber.

Health Care and Your Taxes

Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Mike Soper, office manager of H&R Block in Oneida and Canastota, explains the income tax implications of the Affordable Health Care Act, including subsidies and credits for health care insurance premiums. He will follow up the free program with an open question and answer period.

String Bee Band Performs

Saturday at 2 p.m.

The String Bee band debuts at Oneida Public Library its recently released album, a collection of 13 songs, all but one originally composed by band members. String Bee features Dave Liddy on keyboard, Steve Quenneville on guitar and John O’Hara on the hammered dulcimer. The concert is free.

How To Prevent Child Abuse

Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Stephanie L. Neff of Tri-Valley YMCA leads a training workshop on recognizing the signs of child abuse and preventing its occurance. Workshop fee is $5 per person to cover the cost of materials.
