Morrisville State Lacrosse logo (Morrisville, NY – Jan. 9, 2013)  Morrisville State College freshman point guard Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) posted a collegiate high 24 points and 11 steals to lead the Mustangs to a 64-50 non-conference win over visiting Penn College of Technology Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville.

The win lifts Morrisville State to 3-7 overall.

Anderson hit 7-of-14 shots from the floor, and completed 10-of-11 from the free throw line to lead the Mustangs, while adding three assists to her single game record breaking 11 steals.

Kaitlin Griffin (Brewerton, N.Y.) also recorded a collegiate best performance on the day, compiling 15 points and six rebounds. Griffin nailed 4-of-6 from long range, and sparking the second half run that propelled the Mustangs to the win.

Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, N.Y.) controlled the glass for Morrisville State, snagging a team high 12, while assisting five.

Morrisville State capitalized off eight straight forced turnovers by the Wildcats,  in the opening minutes to build a 15-0 lead just four minutes in before Penn College was able to muster a score.

The Mustangs went cold offensively over the next eight minutes, allowing Penn College to climb back within five, but a 3-pointer by Griffin sparked a 12-2 run to close out the half with the 32-17 lead at the break, as 20 of the Mustangs points coming off Wildcat miscues.

Morrisville State maintained the double digit lead throughout the second half, increasing it to as many as 19, and withstanding a late Wildcat surge to collect the win.

The Mustangs shot 32.3 percent from the floor on the day, hitting 21-of-65 shots, while collecting 17 points from the charity stripe on 25 attempts, forcing 31 Penn College turnovers.

Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Wilson College to resume conference action against the Phoenix, before returning to the Mustang courts Tuesday to host rival SUNYIT.
