(Madison County, NY – Feb. 2014) Cornell Cooperative Extension has organized a conference scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at CCE Schuyler County, Schuyler County Human Services Complex, Room 120, 323 Owego St., Montour Falls.

This conference is for beginning and established farmers looking to strengthen a farm business. Topics include business opportunities, marketing, recordkeeping, risk management and enterprise sessions on grazing, animal health, soil science and water management.

Advance registration is requested by Feb. 11. The program cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple and includes snacks and lunch.

Information Meeting for Dairy Farmers on OSHA Inspection Program

New York dairy farms with 10 or more employees over the last year or farms that provide housing to temporary labor may be subject to an OSHA inspection. The inspection, which is called a Local Emphasis Program, will be discussed Thursday, Feb. 13, at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County beginning at 1 p.m. in the Ag Center, 100 Eaton St., Morrisville.

The speaker will be Ron Williams, OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialist from the OSHA office in East Syracuse.

Immediately after the meeting, there will be an actual dairy farm “walk-through” to highlight issues and concerns for dairy producers and managers.
