To the Editor:

(Town of Eaton, NY – Feb. 2014) Do you remember your first place you’ve always dreamed of going; the site that marked your bucket list journey? Mine was the rainforest; since I was in second grade I’ve always pined over going to the rainforest and see the animals that inhabited it.  There is just something about being surrounded by nature that just makes a person yearn for it.

Once again I am going on a trip overseas with an organization called People to People. People to People was founded by President Eisenhower. Eisenhower created this organization in the hope to promote peace by uniting American youth with other diverse cultures.

In 2011, I went to six different countries and had the best time while learning the different history and cultures of these places.  This time I’m going to Costa Rica, a place I have always only dreamed about.

I will help out in the glorious rainforest by planting trees and removing invasive species, volunteering at an orphanage, and school.  I believe I would enjoy being a Peace Corps volunteer as an adult and live there for a period of time while making a difference, this trip will help make up my mind.

My name is Amanda Marshall and I currently go to Morrisville-Eaton high school.  I have been a Lion’s Club award winner twice thus far. I am looking for donations to help in achieving my goal by help me finish paying for my Costa Rica trip. This trip costs $4,999.00 and I am half way there.  Monitory help is needed but if you could donate your left over lawn sale items, etc – I am planning a big Memorial Day Lawn sale for this benefit.  You could also go to:  http://www.gofundme.com/44n8eo
