(Hamilton, NY – Feb. 5, 2014) Rookie netminder Charlie Finn was rewarded for his 6-1-1 record in the month of January as he was named ECAC Hockey Goalie and Rookie of the Month.

Finn had an incredible month, which included a seven-game unbeaten streak and a six-game winning streak. He earned wins over second-ranked Ferris State, No. 18 Vermont and 13th-ranked Clarkson during the run. He backstopped the Raiders to a 2-2 tie with No. 1 Minnesota and helped the Raiders win the shootout to advance to the Mariucci Classic title game.

The North Vancouver, B.C., native has posted an outstanding record in ECAC Hockey this season and was 4-1-0 during the month and overall he is 8-2-1, earning season sweeps of Clarkson and St. Lawrence. He has a goals against average of 2.46 in conference play, while posting a 2.76 overall in 17 starts.

Colgate had one of its best months in recent memory with six wins and the Raiders won the Mariucci Classic in its first action in 2014. Colgate averaged just under four goals a game during the month, which was well above their season average of 2.74. The Raiders also held their opponents to three or fewer goals during the streak and one time they gave up three it was a 7-3 win against the league’s highest scoring team in St. Lawrence.

The Raiders hope to get back on their winning ways this weekend with a visit from No. 8/9 Cornell for a single game on Saturday night.
