(Canastota, NY – April 2014) The International Boxing Hall of Fame recently announced four-division world champion Erik “El Terrible” Morales will return to Canastota to participate in 25th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend festivities scheduled for June 5 to 8.
“In an era filled with superstars, Erik Morales is one of boxing’s most popular and revered champions,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are thrilled to welcome him back to Canastota and fans will surely enjoy the opportunity to see ‘El Terrible’ at the Hall of Fame.”
Born in 1976 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, Morales turned professional in 1993 and used an aggressive ring style to become one of the most exciting fighters of his generation. He captured world titles in four weight divisions (WBC/ WBO super bantamweight, WBC featherweight, WBC / IBF super featherweight and WBC light welterweight), the first Mexican boxer to do so. Still active, Morales’ record stands at 52-9 (36 KOs) and includes wins over Junior Jones, Wayne McCullough, Marco Antonio Barrera, Kevin Kelley, Jesus Chavez, Paulie Ayala, Manny Pacquiao and Hall of Famer Daniel Zaragoza.
