Cazenovia library new

(Cazenovia, NY- April 2014) Has anyone been wondering why Brian Dennehy is in the Chamber window?  It’s called “Geek Out” and young and old alike are invited to the Library Community Room on Wednesday April 30 from 7to 8:30 p.m. to “Geek Out” with your fellow Cazenovians.

The Cazenovia Public Library is launching our local “Geek the Library Campaign.”   It is part of a larger national campaign that aims to bring awareness about the resources and services that the Library offers to enhance your personal interests.

At the Cazenovia Public Library, we know how fortunate we are to be part of a wonderful community that supports the library as we grow and change to match the community’s needs.  At our April 30th event, we will celebrate everyone in the community and highlight the ways in which we can enhance the topics you are passionate about.
“Geek the Library” features local educational materials that introduce ‘geek’ as a verb, and encourages the public to talk about what they ‘geek’—whether it’s engineering, superheroes, or art. The public awareness campaign illustrates the fact that everyone is passionate about something—everyone ‘geeks’ something—and that the library is a vital community resource that supports them all.

The Kick-Off Party is open to all community members.  Join in the festivities by bringing a small prop or object that is related to your interests. There will be the opportunity to have your picture taken by a local photographer and to add your own personal geek to our growing geek board.   There will also be light refreshments for everyone to enjoy—we all “geek” that!
Underwritten in part by OCLC and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, “Geek the Library” is free and open to the public.   For more information, call 655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
