Spider Rybaak to attend Spring Migration Festival
(Canastota, Town of Lenox, NY- April 2014) Spider Rybaak writes on fishing and the outdoors for the Oswego County Tourism Bureau and lectures frequently on fishing in the area. The recipient of the 2013 New York State Outdoors Writer’s Association’s “Pass It On” Award and a Syracuse Post-Standard 2014 Hero of Conservation he lives in Canastota.
Author of several books, his latest, “Fishing the Great Lakes of New York, A guide to Lakes Erie and Ontario, their tributaries, and the Thousand Islands” will be available at the Great Swamp Conservancy Spring Migration Nature Art Festival set for May 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rybaak will be giving fly casting and bait casting demonstrations and will have a casting challenge for kids at his booth.
Sunday at 8 a.m. the festival will begin with a Guided Bird Walk hosted by wildlife biologist Michael Fishman. Donations: $3 adults, $1 children under 12.

Rybaak also will host a kids fishing event at the Great Swamp Saturday June 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where he will provide all the equipment for a trip to the fish pond for up to 20 kids (each with an adult). A long time angling authority Rybaak donates much of his time giving back to the community by teaching the next generations how to enjoy fishing and appreciate nature.
