On Friday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m., the Morrisville Public Library will host “Scandals of Madison County Part III.” My talk will focus on scandals that rocked the local area from 1900-1975. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 315.684.9130.

On Saturday June 14th from 10 am to 2 pm the Madison County Historical Society will host a Heritage Handicraft Workshop. Attendees will learn how to make a “Tussie-Mussie,”a small bouquet that was a popular Victorian fashion accessory during the reign of Queen Victoria. Pamela Vogan Lynch, a professional artist and retired Director of Art for the Oneida School district will instruct attendees on how to make the item. The workshop is $10 for adults and $5 for children and all materials to make the items to make the Tussie-Mussie will be supplied. On Saturday June 14th starting at 5:30 pm Oakwood Cemetery will host “Oakwood Speaks,” a ghost walk through the cemetery. Stroll through the pastoral setting of Oakwood Cemetery encounter Salt City Voices from the past with tales to tell. Tours leave ever fifteen minutes and reservations are required. Reservations made prior to June 6th are $10 for Onondaga Historical Association members and $12 for non-members. On Sunday June 15th from 9 am to 3 pm the Lorenzo State Historic Site will host Eurocar 2014. Come and see numerous European manufactured automobiles including MG, Alfa, BMW, Porsche, Austin-Healey, Fiat and Triumph. Music, food, and related vendors will also be featured. On Sunday June 15th from 10 am to 3:30 pm the Lorenzo State Historic Site will also host its annual Garden Art Show. Outdoor exhibitions of painting and sculpture will be installed throughout the formal garden and Dark Aisle arboretum. On Monday June 16th at 7 pm the Town of Madison Historical Society will host “Madison County Exposed Part II” by Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz. The talk will focus on crimes, scandals and events that rocked the local area from 1850 until around 1900. The event is free and open to the public.

On Thursday June 19th at 7 pm the Lorenzo State Historic Site will host “Shakespeare on the Lawn: As You Like It.” Bring your picnic basket and lawn chairs to enjoy a FREE outdoor performance of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. “As You Like It” is a 60-minute lighthearted look at the passionate nature of love, flirtation, friendship and mistaken identity. On Sunday June 22nd from 12 pm to 5 pm the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum will host their annual Canal Fest and Chicken Barbecue. The festivities will include live music by Bob Catalina, a book signing by with children’s Dorothy Stacy, a kids model boat race and “game quest,” and much more. On June 22nd from 12 pm to 4 pm the Oneida Community Mansion House will host a Strawberry Jam. A flea market will take place in the Vineyard across the street from the Mansion House starting at 10 am. If you are interested in selling goods, spaces are available for $10. From 12 pm to 4 pm food and beverages will be available at the quadrangle of the Mansion House and on the south lawn there will be live music and a bake sale feature desserts prepared with strawberries. On Tuesday June 24th at 7 pm the Town of Brookfield Historical Society welcomes Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz who will present on . There is no charge for this event. Fore more information please call 315-366-2453.
