(Oneida, NY – June 2014) Come to the Oneida Community Mansion House on Sunday, June 22 and enjoy a free and fun day during Strawberry Jam, a Mansion House Friends event to benefit the non-profit Oneida Community Mansion House.
The activities begin with a flea market in the Vineyard across from the Mansion House at 10 a.m.
From noon to 4 p.m. food and beverages will be available in the Quadrangle of the Mansion House and on the south lawn there will be live music and a bake sale featuring all manner of desserts prepared with strawberries.
There is no admission charge for guided tours scheduled for 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. that day beginning in the Big Hall on the second floor.
After an introduction by Curator Tony Wonderley, you can explore the exhibits which include “Mothers and Children of the Oneida Community,” “South Seas to Botticelli: Frank Perry Flatware Designs for Oneida, 1950s-1970s,” “The Braidings of Jessie Catherine Kinsley,” and “Oneida Game Traps.” You can also view period rooms like the Big Hall, the Upper Sitting Room, the Nursery Kitchen and the Vestibule with its Cabinet of Curiosities. Docents will be stationed at locations throughout the museum to answer questions.
