(Morrisville, NY – June 2014) The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team wrapped up a stellar 2014 season, finishing 12-7 overall, 8-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action this spring.

In keeping with the Mustang theme of the 2013-14 athletic year, it was nothing short of record breaking as four wrote their names into the all-time record books for women’s lacrosse at Morrisville State.

She, along with fellow senior Cassie Edmondson (Oshawa, Ontario) also became the two lone players to wear the Mustang jersey the most, appearing in 70 games throughout their careers.

EDMONDSON-MOR-WLX-2014Edmondson, midfield and defender for the Mustangs, best known for her defensive tenacity and captivating speed, wrote her name in all-time history as well. Edmondson collected a record best 265 ground balls in her four-year career, while causing a career high 145 opponent turnovers.

WOOD-MOR-WLX-2014Junior Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.) entered the 2014 season on the edge of two major milestones in Mustang history, and surpassed those marks, becoming the all-time career goal scoring leader (249) and points leader (311) early on in the season in Colorado. Come season end, she added her name to two more all-time career records, draw controls (224) and free position goals (54).

A total 74 Mustang records were broken and rewritten in 2013-14, several by student-athletes who will be returning to the rosters next season.
