(Morrisville, NY – July 2014) The cost of lameness in dairy herds is estimated to be between $300 to 400 per case per year. On a 100 cow herd, that’s a $30,000 – $40,000 loss.
Here are the topics to be covered on Thursday, July 10 at MSC’s Dairy Complex in Morrisville. We’ll begin at 1 pm.
Speakers include Dr. Jerry Bertoldo DVM plus Eric Moyer & Chip Hendrickson, Professional Hoof Trimmers in Central & Western NY
– The importance of identifying subtle lameness
– What lameness can cost you, high levels or not
– What can be happening on the inside as well as the outside of a problem hoof
– What a good trim looks like
– Successful treatment methods for hoof disease
– Foot baths as a key to hoof health
– Troubleshooting chronic hoof problems (maybe this could be a concluding Q&A session)
There is a $10 fee per person to cover handouts and program expenses. If possible, we ask that payment be made in advance of the day of the program.
