(Town of Lenox, NY –Sept. 27, 2014) Yesterday’s motor vehicle/motorcycle accident is being investigated by Madison County Sheriff’s deputies.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26 on State Route 13, just north of Lewis Point Road in the town of Lenox.
A sedan heading northbound on Route 13 was making a left turn into a driveway when a motorcyclist attempted to pass the vehicle, colliding with the driver door of the sedan. The operator of the motorcycle was ejected, landing approximately 30 feet from the vehicle on the lawn of a residence, adjacent to the motorcycle.
The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Greater Lenox Ambulance to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition.
The driver of the sedan was also taken by Greater Lenox Ambulance to Upstate Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
There were two eye witnesses to the crash who provided statements to Deputies.
Canastota Fire Department, Greater Lenox Ambulance, NYS Police and Oneida Nation Police assisted on the scene.
Identities of the two injured victims have not been released.
