(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2014) Down from the Adirondacks, author and feminist Lorraine Duvall will discuss her life “outside the norm,” as told in her new memoir “And I Know Too Much To Pretend,” at Oneida Public Library on Saturday Oct. 11 at 11 a.m.

Duvall’s memoir tells the story of a woman who broke out of the norm expected of girls growing up in Binghamton in the 1940s and 1950s. She embraced feminism early on and “forged her own way from what was expected of a suburban housewife.” Duvall relates how she managed to succeed in the male-dominated profession of computer software and how she attained a Ph.D. when in her 50s.

Above all, Duvall will discuss her quest to live in the Adirondacks after a professional career in Manhattan, Chicago and Central New York.

“I hope readers of my memoir,” Duvall said, “are inspired to make choices in their lives that are true to their own nature and to experience the joy of living in the place where they can say, ‘And I know too much to pretend.’”

Copies of “And I Know Too Much To Pretend” will be available for sale and signing by the author.
