To the Editor:
(Waterville, NY – Oct. 2014) On Sept. 16, candidate for governor Rob Astorino visited Mercers Ice Cream in Boonville. How nice.
As a deer hunter, I would love to see the NY SAFE Act repealed and something that had some thought and sense in it passed in its place. If it is proven safe, I would also love to have a gas well in the back 40; however, as a dairy farmer, I am greatly offended, no, change that to royally ticked off, that I and my fellow dairy farmers are shown in his anti-Coumo ads shown every five minutes on TV as one of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s “special interests getting ahead.”
Did Astorino realize that the ice cream that he seemed to be enjoying was made from milk produced by those “special Interests?”
Does Rob Astorino have even a clue where his food comes from?
My guess is that he won’t be knocking on our door looking for votes.

NYPIRG has published a list of Governor Cuomo’s contributors. It is frightening. Cuomo’s contributors are a who’s who of the one percent. They include two Paulsons, Laurence Rockefeller–doyen of the one percent–hedge fund director James Simons, West Coast supermarket billionaire Ron Burkle, LeFrak, and hedge fund tycoon John Levin, who’s been throwing parties to raise money. That’s just the start. The list of the billionaires is so long that there’s a line stretched out Cuomo’s door and around the corner of the mansion on which he frequently forgets to pay taxes.
What’s sad about Cuomo is that while he panders to one-percent real estate-and-hedge fund tycoons, and the likes of Laurence Rockefeller, who has been running TV ads on his behalf, Cuomo took $200 million and spent it on running nonsensical Start Up New York ads around the country. The chief function of these ads was to advertise Cuomo himself. He did this when the state had not yet reimbursed Hurricane Sandy victims, who were literally homeless.

Cuomo’s strong support among the one percent has done little for hard-working property owners. If you pay real estate taxes, you have seen your taxes rise during the Cuomo years. More than 400,000 New Yorkers have fled the state during Cuomo’s administration. Businesses with crooked public -private partnerships have backed Cuomo. Cuomo has zero interest in people who pull their weight and pay taxes. His contsitutences are welfare recipients, who do well under any Democratic regime, businesses on the state’s payroll, and billionaires. If you’re middle class and you vote for him, you have a death wish.
