To the Editor:
(Chittenango, NY – Nov. 2014) A beautiful fall evening full of fun, games, hayrides, food, petting zoo and laughter, and a community of sharing was had by all as Community Action Partnership (CAP) hosted its annual Fall Fest on October 16, 2014. Area families and youth involved with CAP programs had the opportunity to welcome fall with fun activities for the whole family. From pumpkin painting to face painting, just over 73 children and their families (or a total of 134) enjoyed this annual event where CAP staff and volunteers created a warm, inviting, fun atmosphere. A magician and music provided by Old Clay Stone added to the merriment. All walked away small goodie bags along with cherished memories from the evening of family fun.
Special thanks to Colgate University for the chili, mac & cheese and rolls at NO cost, Melissa King from Karing Kitchen for fruit and pumpkins, Our Farm and Mosher’s Farm for 50 pumpkins each at no cost, and Steve Lorraine for hay bales for activities and atmosphere!
The Great Swamp and the Madison County Sherriff’s Department took part in providing children’s activities, education and safety awareness information.
Through a variety of programs CAP reaches out to Madison County families. Our programs include Healthy Families NY, a home visiting program for parents who are expecting or have a young child in their home offering information, support, and home visiting services. This voluntary program makes a difference in the county. Last year alone just over 200 infants and children received age appropriate immunizations, medical and dental care as a result of the program.
