To the Editor:
(Nov. 2014) I received my copy of the Milkweed Sept. 15 and was amazed by an article saying that DFA members and milk marketed by DMS was going to be charged a $.15 re-blend charge starting with August milk. It seems as though milk is being dumped or sold for less than what the government set price is.
What happened to the theory that New York State was the yogurt capital of the world and that farmers needed to build on their barns, milk more cows and produce more milk because there was such a shortage of milk?
Our state government was going to soften the CAFO regulations, lend farmers money to buy cows and set up government savings accounts for all the money that they were going to make.
So what happened? It seems that some things never change.
