Johnson named NJAC Offensive Player of the Week for fifth time

JohnsonL13 (Morrisville, NY – Nov. 2014) The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) has announced its Football Players of the Week, naming Morrisville State College senior quarterback Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.) the Offensive Player of the Week for a fifth time.

Johnson helped guide the Mustangs to a 38-14 conference win over William Paterson on Saturday, as Morrisville State capped off the 2014 home slate with a perfect 5-0 record to improve to 7-2 overall, 5-1 in conference action.

In the contest, he rushed 22 times for a career-high 158 yards and two touchdowns of 1 and 8 yards apiece. Johnson also completed 11-of-20 passes for 134 yards.

Johnson is currently ranked third overall in the NJAC in rushing, averaging 103.4 yards per game, and is second in passing with a 226.0 average per game. He leads the conference in total offense, on average boasting 329.4 yards per game.

The senior is a graduate of Ossining High and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Esther Barrett of Ossining.

 

 

Morrisville State has three named to NEAC Women’s Cross Country All-Conference Teams

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its 2014 All-Conference teams following the championships on Saturday, naming three from Morrisville State to its second and third teams.
Hehir-MOR-WCC-2014 Evelia Hehir (Washingtonville, N.Y.) earned second team honors following her eighth overall place finish in the 6K race held at Kenilworth Part in Washington, DC Saturday, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:01.1.

The junior earns all-conference honors for a second time in her career, being named to the third team as a freshman.

A graduate of Washingtonville High, Hehir is majoring in nursing at Morrisville State College. She is the daughter of Evelyn and Martin Hehir of Washingtonville.

Harmon-MOR-WCC-2014Laura Harmon (Cooperstown, N.Y.) and Maria Miner (Liverpool, N.Y.) each earned third team accolades following their performances at the championships Saturday.

Harmon posted a time of 24:44.1 to finish 17th overall at the championships, assisting Morrisville State to a fifth overall team finish.

The graduate of Cooperstown High, Harmon is majoring in nursing at Morrisville State College. She is the daughter of Marry and Mark Harmon of Millford.

Miner-MOR-WCC-2014Miner earns All-Conference accolades in her first collegiate season. The freshman turned in a 6K performance of 25:02.9, crossing the finish line in 21st overall position.

A graduate of East Syracuse – Minoa High, Miner is majoring in liberal arts and science – math and science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Linda and Matt Eichenlaub of Liverpool.

 

Three Morrisville State men’s runners named NEAC All-Conference

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its 2014 men’s cross country All-Conference teams, naming three from Morrisville State to its first and second team’s, based off their performance at the championships on Saturday.

Evans-MOR-MCC-2014Sophomore Byron Evans (Cazenovia, N.Y.) earned first team accolades following his fifth individual place finish in the 8K race with a time of 27:53.1 in the 83-runner field. He was a third team selection just a year ago in his first collegiate season.

Evans is majoring in automotive technology at Morrisville State and is the son of Merry and Jim Evans of Cazenovia.

Terpening-MOR-MCC-2014Richard Terpening (Syracuse, N.Y.) also took home first team accolades, crossing the finish line in 28:22.8 for a seventh overall place finish. His first team All-Conference performance was the first time Morrisville State has placed two in the top seven at the championships in program history within the conference.

The Syracuse native is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State College.

Okula-MOR-MCC-2014Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) finished 11th overall at the NEAC Championships to earn second team All-Conference accolades, the first in his collegiate career, following his finish of 28:40.6 to lead Morrisville State to a third place team finish.

The senior is a graduate of Patchogue-Medford High and is majoring in renewable energy at Morrisville State. He is the son of Joanie and Greg Okula of Medford.

 

Evans named to D3football.com Team of the Week

EvansC14Morrisville State College junior linebacker, Colton Evans (West Winfield, N.Y. / Mount Markham) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, for his performance in the Mustangs win over William Paterson on Saturday.

Evans posted seven total tackles, six solo stops, while registering two and a half sacks for a loss of 18 yards in the conference win on Saturday. He also forced a fumble as Morrisville State improved to 7-2 overall, and 5-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action.

The junior is second on the team in total tackles (74) and leads the way in sacks on the season, recording eight for a loss of 70 yards. He has also recorded two forced fumbles as Morrisville State is currently ranked second in the NJAC standings.

A graduate of Mount Markham High, Evans is majoring in web development and management at Morrisville State. He is the son of Carol and Kevin Evans of West Winfield.

 

Johnson named Corvias ECAC Southeast Offensive Player of the Week for third time

JohnsonL13 The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Corvias Division III Players of the Week for the week ending November 2, naming Morrisville State College senior quarterback Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.) the Southeast Offensive Player of the Week for a third time this season.

Johnson helped guide the Mustangs to a 38-14 win over William Paterson. The senior signal caller rushed 22 times for a career-high 158 yards and two touchdowns, 1 and 8 yards apiece. He added 134 yards to his tallies in the passing game, completing 11-of-20 attempts.

His efforts assisted Morrisville State to a program best 7-2 record since becoming a member of the NCAA Division III, and a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) best record of 5-1.

The reigning NJAC Offensive Player of the Year is a graduate of Ossining High, and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State College. He earned ECAC Corvias Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 15 and Oct. 28 this season.

Johnson is the son of Esther Barrett of Ossining.

 

Cross Country duo named Mustang Athletes of the Week

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named cross country runners, Evelia Hehir (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 3.

Hehir-MOR-WCC-2014 Hehir led the Mustang women’s cross country pack with an eighth place overall finish in the field of 88 competitors at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships on Saturday, finishing the 6K race with a time of 24:01.1.

Her top performance landed her second team all-Conference accolades, and Morrisville State a fifth overall finish in team competition.

The junior earned all-conference honors for a second time in her career, being named to the third team as a freshman.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced its players of the week for the week ending November 8, 2014, naming Morrisville State College senior quarterback Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.) the Offensive Player of the Week for a third straight week.

JohnsonL13 Johnson nabs the honor for a sixth time alone this season, following his performance in leading the Mustangs to a 38-20 NJAC road victory over conference undefeated and #23 ranked Montclair State University on Saturday.

In the win, he completed 24-of-35 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns, also registering 104 yards rushing on 23 carries for a score in the victory. The defeat of Montclair lifted Morrisville State to a 8-2 overall regular season record, and boosted their final NJAC campaign to 6-1, a program best record since making the transition to Division III in 2006.

Johnson currently leads the NJAC in total offense, averaging 331.5 yards per game.

The graduate of Ossining High is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State College. He is the son of Esther Barrett of Ossining.

 

McKoy named ECAC Corvias Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

Morrisville State College freshman forward, Jamieson McKoy (Bronx, N.Y.) has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvias Upstate Division III Rookie of the Week for the Week ending November 9, as announced by the ECAC.

McKoy-MOR-2014-MSCMcKoy notched the game-winning goals in both tournament wins for Morrisville State last week. The rookie netted the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Penn State Abington, before posting his second of the tournament in the 2-0 decision over Lancaster Bible College on Sunday to claim the title.

To date on the season he has scored 11 goals for the Mustangs and assisting another five, assisting Morrisville State to a 16-2 overall record, North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season and championship tournament titles, and the program’s bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

McKoy was named the ECAC Upstate Player of the Week Sept.7. He is a graduate of the High School for Teaching and the Professions, and is majoring in accounting at Morrisville State. He is the son of Caroline Davis of St. Kitts.

JohnsonL13 The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Corvias Division III Players of the Week for the week ending November 9, naming Morrisville State College senior quarterback Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.) the Southeast Offensive Player of the Week for a fourth time this season.

Johnson helped guide the Mustangs to a 38-20 road victory over #23 ranked Montclair State on Saturday, completing 24-of-35 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns, adding a 104 rushing performance and a touchdown on 23 carries.

His efforts assisted Morrisville State to a program best 8-2 record since becoming a member of the NCAA Division III, and a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) best record of 6-1. The Mustangs claimed at least a share of the NJAC title with the win on Saturday.

The graduate of Ossining High is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State College. He earned ECAC Corvias Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 15 and Oct. 28, and Nov. 2 this season.

Johnson is the son of Esther Barrett of Ossining.
