(Oneida, NY – Dec. 2014) More than 31 years ago, Harold Nye inspired his employees and others in the community to brighten the holidays for families in need. This was the beginning of what eventually became Share a Caring Christmas. Today this annual event has become a tradition that families and our local community look forward to each and every year. Once again, the NYE Automotive Group, in conjunction with MIX 106 and the Salvation Army, will be holding the annual Share a Caring Christmas, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NYE Ford.
MIX 106 will broadcast the festivities live throughout the event, and a full line-up of musical entertainment has been scheduled, including musical selections performed by area schools as well as long time supporter Fritz’s Polka Band. Light refreshments will be served, and guests can expect a visit from Santa and his reindeer.
The event reflects the spirit of giving. Local residents, businesses and schools all collect new and gently used toys for area children who might not otherwise find much under their trees on Christmas morning. 2014 has been any extremely difficult year for many families. This year we are hoping to make our goal of supplying all the families in need with something extra under the tree.
Immediately following the event, the gifts will be taken by the Salvation Army to be cleaned and distributed.
All are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring any new or gently used unwrapped toy. Anyone interested in donating toys prior to the event may do so by bringing them to NYE Ford any time during regular business hours now through December 13. NYE Automotive is located at 1441 Genesee St. in Oneida and open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Any local group or organization who wishes to help the effort by collecting toys, are encouraged to do so, and anyone wishing to volunteer to help at the event should contact Terri Wimmer at 315-363-0600 or Kelly Karram at 315-725-8420.
