seusssaturday for web(Hamilton, NY – Feb. 2015) Do you like green eggs & ham? Want to meet the Lorax who speaks for the trees? If you said yes – or you’re a fan of Dr. Seuss – you’re invited to ‘Seuss Saturday’ in the village of Hamilton on Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the day’s programs and activities is free (unless indicated with a ‘$’). Schedule of events:

9:45 a.m. – Proclamation in the Park. Hamilton Mayor Margaret Miller will kick off the celebrations by making a public announcement. [Village Green, Broad Street]

10 to 11 a.m. – Meet the Lorax at the Colgate Bookstore. Meet the Lorax and make a craft.  Don’t forget your camera! All Dr. Seuss books and toys will be 30% off for the entire day. [3 Utica Street, 3rd Floor Events Room]

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Seuss Snow Sculpture. People of all ages invited to make a Seuss-inspired snow creation, weather permitting. [Village Green, Broad Street]

11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Seussville Computer Lab at the Hamilton Public Library, plus Story Time with special guest storytellers. Explore wacky, wild online games and activities inspired by Dr. Seuss and/or listen to favorite and lesser-known Seuss books read aloud. [13 Broad Street]

12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. – “The Lorax” at the Hamilton Movie Theater. Come to a free show of the 2012 animated movie based on the Seuss classic. Arrive early for a pre-movie activity. Don’t forget to order some Hop on Pop popcorn ($) [7 Lebanon Street]

1 to 2 p.m. – Drop-in craft time at the Hamilton Center for the Arts. Stop by anytime to make a creative contraption! [19 Lebanon Street]

2:30 to 3 p.m. – Live-action storytelling of “The Lorax” at the Hamilton Center for the Arts. Local children in costume will act out the story as it is told aloud. [19 Lebanon Street]

February 28 through March 14 – “Thing-A-Ma-Jig” exhibit – peek in the windows and check out the fun-tastical structures created by community members of all ages. [Large windows at 20 Broad Street. Window shopping only. No inside access.]

Village eateries offering Seuss-themed food specials ($) will include Colgate Inn, Maxwell’s Chocolates, No. 10 Tavern, and Oliveri’s Pizzeria. Look for the red & white Seuss hat in the window.
