oneida-public-library(Oneida, NY – March 2015) In a special Spring Break appearance, singer, guitarist and songwriter Jim McCarthy comes to Oneida Public Library Tuesday March 31 at 2 p.m. to perform his special library program “Celebrate Reading,” a sing-along concert of funny and lively tunes that celebrate children’s books, their authors and famous characters.

As a plus, McCarthy will stay on after the show to demonstrate to elementary- and middle-school students the full range of sounds that his electric guitar can do and even let the students try the guitar out.

McCarthy last appeared at the OPL in December in a Holiday Concert with his wife Deidre and their two sons. The McCarthy Family regularly performs in Central New York, most recently at the New York State Fair, the Syracuse Irish Festival, the Golden Harvest Festival at Beaver Lake and several venues in their hometown of Central Square.

McCarthy, a former public-school music teacher, also performs thematic presentations in words and original songs for school assemblies. His latest subject concerns combating bullying.

The concert is free and open to the public.

For more information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call 363-3050.
