(Cazenovia, NY- May 2015) In conjunction with Stone Quarry Art Park and the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation’s program “Monarchs, Milkweed, & Pollinator Gardens,” the Cazenovia Public Library is showing The Incredible Story of the Monarch Butterfly: Four Wings and a Prayer” on Thursday May 21 at 7 p.m. in the Library Community Room.

Based on the critically-acclaimed book by Sue Halpern and narrated by Kristin Scott Thomas, this documentary charts the perilous journey of the Canadian insect, which flies more than 3,000 miles from its homeland to the rainforests of Mexico across land it has never seen. The film explores how many never complete the task, and those that do, never return.

On your way to the movie, take a minute to stop by the Story Garden and see the amazing progression of our caterpillars that will become the ever-beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies.

On Friday, May 22 American Sniper will be shown at 2 and 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room.  In this film, Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle’s pinpoint accuracy has saved countless lives on the battlefield and has turned him into a legend. Back home to his wife and kids after four tours of duty, however, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind. (Imdb)

This film is rated R and runs for 134 minutes.  Admission and popcorn are always free at the Cazenovia Public Library.
