.(Chittenango, NY – June 2015) On Thursday June 18 at 4 p.m.at Sullivan Free Library in Chittenango, Madison County Reads Ahead will be holding a celebration for their high school equivalency TASC graduates and other academic achievers in their library adult education programs.
Success takes many forms and being recognized for your accomplishments is important. Tara Truett, director of Madison County Reads Ahead, will award outstanding achievement in Madison County adult literacy programs. The ceremony will feature student speaker Jaime Miller, who recently earned her high school equivalency through Oneida Public Library’s TASC program.
Light refreshments will be served.
Canastota Public Library, Cazenovia Public Library, Hamilton Public Library, Morrisville Public Library, New Woodstock Free Library, Oneida Public Library, and Sullivan Free Library in Bridgeport and Chittenango all will be celebrating the accomplishments of their adult literacy learners.
Madison County Reads Ahead (MCRA) provides one-one one tutoring programs and acts as a referral source for educational and career services programs in Madison County. Library tutoring programs are offered at all locations in High School Equivalency (HSE/TASC), English as a Second Language (ESL), and Adult Basic Education (ABE). Adult learners work one-on-one with trained volunteer tutors at flexible times that suit their schedules. Tutoring programs are learner-centered, and can especially help students who find they don’t get enough attention in a classroom setting.
