Oneida Chamber(Oneida, NY – 9/3/15) The Oneida Chamber presents a Daybreak Seminar on “Health Insurance 2016: What will it cost and what can business owners do?” presented by Pamela Reese Finch, Executive Director of the Employer Alliance for Affordable Health Care.

The seminar will be held Tuesday Sept. 15 from 8 to 9 a.m. with registration from 7:30 to 8 a.m. at Lakeview Restaurant at the Oneida Community Golf Club, 1017 Golf Lane in Oneida.

Health insurance premiums will increase, on average, between 7 and 9 percent in 2016 – a number that vary by region to as much as 20 percent.

While the Department of Financial Services calls seven percent an “improvement” over the days before the Affordable Care Act, most small businesses find such a significant increase unacceptable, especially as the rate of inflation remains steady at 0.1 percent.

What drives the cost of health insurance and what role does the New York State government play? This discussion will look at the many factors that shape the cost of our healthcare and provide small businesses with the resources they need to advocate for change.

Founded in 1997 by Amsterdam businessman Scott Miller, the Employer Alliance for Affordable Health Care is the largest, single-issue grassroots coalition in New York State.
