(Madison, NY – Sept. 2015) The Town of Madison Historical Society presents Barbara Bartlett, Director of the Lorenzo House on Monday Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Madison Historical Society’s building, 3606 South St. in Madison.

Lorenzo was established in 1807 as the neoclassical home of Cazenovia founder John Lincklaen. Majestically overlooking Cazenovia Lake, Lorenzo was owned and occupied by the Lincklaen/Ledyard families for five generations until 1968 when the state of New York acquired the property. Various preservation initiatives at the site have occurred since that time, including exterior and interior restoration of the Mansion, as well as period room decoration; re-introduction and maintenance of the 1914 formal garden; conversion of the carriage barn into an interpretive center; and the relocation of the early 19th Century Rippleton Schoolhouse to the museum grounds for year-long educational programming.

Bartlett will present an illustrated presentation about these and many more restoration projects at Lorenzo.

Bartlett previously worked as the restoration coordinator for Central Region and her primary responsibilities were directing the capital program for cultural and historic resources throughout the region, at both historic sites and parks, and conducting environmental reviews and coordinating cooperative agreements with the College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Cornell University. Before working for New York State, she was the executive director of the Preservation Association of CNY and the Madison County Historical Society. She has also served as an adjunct professor with the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University for 14 years.

Bartlett holds a B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University, a M.S. degree from Columbia University and a certificate for Not-for-Profit Executive Management from Museums Collaborative and the Harvard Executive Program.

This free presentation follows a short historical society meeting at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to attend both.

Refreshments follow, with an opportunity to ask the speaker questions.
