flock #1(Hamilton, NY – Oct. 2015) Lately there has been an unusual bird sighting around the village of Hamilton. A flock of flamingos have migrated to the area.

The flock of flamingos are part of a friendly fund raiser sponsored by Community Action Partnership of Madison County (CAP).  CAP is raising funds to support their efforts in building resiliency in families living in Madison County.  CAP staff will be planting flocks of pink flamingos in the front yards of unsuspecting area residents as designated by their friends.  They will be leaving behind an envelope with the birds asking homeowners for a contribution to CAP in exchange for the prompt and courteous removal of the flock.

The envelope will contain a form for the homeowner to complete if they would like to send the flock to another neighbor.

For the truly Flamingo-phobic, CAP is also offering Flamingo Flocking Insurance, which can be purchased to ensure that the flock does not rest on your lawn.  In exchange for a donation of $10 CAP will keep your lawn flamingo free.  Of course, the removal of the flamingos can be done at no charge, so please don’t hurt the pink feathered friends.  You can choose to send the flock to a neighbor.

There are two sizes of flocks; a small flock of 10 flamingos for a $15 donation and a large flock of 20 flamingos for a $25 donation.  Julie Dale, Executive Director of CAP, would like everyone to know that the Flamingo Flocking is all done in fun.

If you are interested in sending a flock of Flamingos to a neighbor, contact Nancy Joerger at 315-415-6992.

By the end of October the flamingo will be migrating to another town in Madison County, so catch a glimpse of them while you can.

CAP is an anti-poverty agency that improves the well-being and safety of children, families and our community through a variety of programs and services. Last year CAP served approximately 5,000 individuals, nearly one in fourteen Madison County residents.
