(Canastota, NY – Oct. 2015) Hope Christian Fellowship would like to extend an invitation to the general public to attend several special free film events. Viewings will be held at the church’s storefront located at 119 S. Peterboro St.
A six-week video Bible study series will be held on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 15 through Nov.19. Max Lucado, international best-selling author and pastor of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, will present on the topic of “Glory Days: Living Your Promised Land Life Now.”
The theme of the series centers on claiming the promises of God. If feeling stuck, caught in a rut, fighting the same battles, facing the same temptations, wondering if this is as good as the Christian life gets, there’s good news: we were made for more; we were made for Glory Days! In God’s plan, we win more than we lose, forgive as quickly as we are offended, and give as abundantly as we receive. We may stumble but not collapse, struggle but defy despair, and with God’s help close the gap between the people we are and the people we want to be.
In addition, the church will be holding a monthly family movie night. The inaugural presentation at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 is “Creation,” a filmed version of the staged event produced by the acclaimed Sight and Sound Theatres of Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pa. Story, song and staging bring the Bible to life.
With professional actors attired in elaborate costumes, meticulously detailed sets towering up to 40 feet high, trained animals, unmatched special effects and memorable music, Sight and Sound live shows are presented to more than 800,000 guests every year. But even if you cannot go to Strasburg, you can enjoy the filmed experience much closer to home.
The public is invited to attend both the six-week series and the monthly movie nights. There is no admission charge.
