Cornell(Madison, Oneida County, NY – Jan. 2016) Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison and Oneida County are pleased to offer, in conjunction with local and state partners, a day long program for sheep and goat producers in Central New York.

The program will be held Saturday Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oneida County CCE Office, 121 2nd St. in Oriskany. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The cost of the program is $10 per person and includes all materials and lunch.

Useful for both beginner and experienced producers the program will include information on improved animal health, growing your business, and nutrition. Marylynn Collins of Oneida County CCE will present the most common diseases and health concerns when raising sheep and goats, as well as, preventative practices and vaccination schedules.

Cornell Cooperative Extension educator Bonnie Collins and, local producer, Ben Wood will have you examine farm business management and growing your business. This session will include financial record keeping and pre-planning requirements prior to growing your sheep/goat business. We will also review market identification and marketing options.

After lunch, Corey Hayes from Morrisville State College will lead a discussion on nutrition of your sheep or goats. Have your questions ready for discussion.
