(Sherburne, NY- Jan. 2016) Has cabin fever hit early this year? Friends of Rogers has the cure. On Jan. 18 children ages 7 to 10 have the opportunity to explore Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne and learn about the great outdoors.
During “Chillin’-OUT” participants will explore the forest, hike the trails, play outdoor games, and make new friends. Plus nature crafts and the always-popular “snack”-tivity” will be part of the day’s agenda.
“This unique program encourages kids to have outdoor winter adventures,” said Sarah Freedman, Friends of Rogers environmental educator. “While the temperatures may be low, energy and fun will be at record highs!”
Pre-registration must be made by Jan. 16; the rate is $30 per day for members and $35 for non-members. Also available are activities before (8-9 a.m.) and after (4-5:30 p.m.) for an additional $7.50 per session, per child.
“We are excited to offer this new program,” said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. “Our goal is to provide local children fun and engaging alternatives to sedentary winter activities, while inspiring them to interact more with the natural world.”
Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
