(Canastota, NY- Jan. 2016) Are you looking for things to do with the kids?  Our children’s programs begin again in February at the Canastota Public Library.  Baby and Me Lapsit begins on Wednesday Feb. 3 and Storytime starts on Thursday Feb. 4.

In Baby & Me Lapsit with Miss Angela, babies up to age 24 months and their caregivers sing songs, play finger and hand games, read stories and learn to interact positively with others their age.  This early family literacy program introduces youngsters to the library.  The program is held each Wednesday at 10 a.m. and runs about 45 minutes.

Preschoolers enjoy our Storytime with Mrs. Liz on Thursdays at 10 a.m. beginning Feb. 4.  Children enjoy read-aloud stories, games, songs, crafts and a snack!  This fun program also begins at 10 a.m.and lasts about an hour.

If your child loves playing with Legos, you might want to try to attend our Saturday morning Block Parties. Every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until noon, our Lego Block Parties are held in the children’s area for parents and kids.  We encourage imagination and try to leave the creations on display for the week.  We supply the Legos.

We also have a teen anime/manga program for teens in sixth grade and older.  That program is held after school on Fridays here at the library from 3 to 4 p.m.Teens watch anime, discuss anime that they are reading and plan programs related to this genre.

Another teen group is our Teen Book Club.  This group meets the first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The club welcomes students in grades 5 through 10.  Books are suggested by the group and then read and discussed at the meetings.

We welcome kids of all ages to the Canastota Public Library and hope you will begin your new year with lots of visits to the library.
