(Morrisville, NY – Jan. 2016) The Morrisville State College athletic department has announced its weekly award winners, naming junior guard Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) and junior forward Darren Young (Woodstock, Ontario) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 17.

Anderson led the Morrisville State women’s basketball team to a 3-0 week behind a collegiate best week.

She started the week with a 10 point performance against Keuka College before posting a collegiate high 27 points and eight assists in a 77-70 overtime win over NEAC undefeated Lancaster Bible College. In that same contest, Anderson shot 50% from the floor and converted 15-of-17 free throws (88.2%), while adding three steals to her totals on the day.

Anderson capped off the week with a 20- point performance against Penn State Berks to lead the Mustangs in the conference win, adding another eight assists to her tallies on the week. In all Anderson averaged 19.0 points per game, shot 41.7% from the floor, 71.4% from the free throw line (25-35), and dished out on average 6.0 assists per game.

The junior is a graduate of Unadilla Valley High and is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Steve and Wendy Anderson of West Edmeston.

Young paced the men’s hockey team to a 2-0 weekend, collecting a total four goals and an assist for five team points as the Mustangs swept Southern New Hampshire University.

On Friday, he posted four goals in the 7-6 overtime win, adding a goal and an assist on Saturday in the 5-3 victory.

The junior is a business administration major at Morrisville State. He is the son of Eustacia and Dave Young of Woodstock, Ontario.
