(Canastota, NY- Feb. 2016) On Wednesday Jan. 27, 13 FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) High School and Middle Level members attended training at the Rome Teachers Federal Credit Union. All student workers were required to attend a training session held at the branch office in Rome.
While at the training, students observed the bank tellers as they conducted their daily transactions and dealt with customers. The bank tellers explained the process in detail to the students. The credit union’s president and CEO talked to the students about their responsibilities as well as the importance of good financial education and management.
A grand opening is set at Canastota High School for Wednesday Feb. 24 at 7 a.m. where an official ribbon-cutting will take place. The credit union will be open during 5th and 6th period lunch periods every Wednesday, with additional hours being planned.
Canastota faculty, staff, and students will be able to open and maintain savings and checking accounts right at the high school. Additional savings plans such as Christmas and Vacation Clubs, Prom Clubs, etc. and other banking will also be available.
