Book Signing at the Cazenovia Public Library
(Cazenovia, NY – Feb. 2016) All are invited to join Manlius author Julie Dewey on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Cazenovia Public Library Community Room as she launches her newest book Forgetting Tabitha.
Tabitha Salt, the daughter of Irish immigrants, was raised on a farm and led a sheltered existence. When tragedy strikes the family, Tabitha and her mother are forced to move to the notorious Five Points District in New York City, known for its brothels, gangs, gambling halls, corrupt politicians, and thieves. As they struggle to survive, tragedy strikes again, leaving young Tabitha alone on the streets of New York.
The Sisters of Charity are taking orphans off the streets with promises of a new life, but children must forget their pasts, religious beliefs, families, and names. They offer Tabitha a choice—stay in Five Points or board the orphan train in search of a new life in the West. The harrowing journey and the decision to leave everything behind launches Tabitha on a path from which she can never return.
Stop by the Community Room on the 16th and enjoy a book signing event featuring Forgetting Tabitha.

Museum Academy: Shadow Puppets—Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at Lorenzo State Historic Site.
In partnership with Lorenzo State Historic Site, children ages 7-12 are invited to join Jenna Wright-Martin for an afternoon of creative play at Lorenzo.
Shadow Puppets have a rich history of performance around the world from their beginnings in Asia and Indonesia to Victorian era parlor games. Children practiced the timeless art of storytelling by using handmade puppets and retelling their favorite tales.

Children are asked to please bring a shoe box with a lid to use as the base for their puppet show stage. All other materials will be provided.
Pre-registration and a $2 program fee are required. To reserve a spot, call Lorenzo at 655-3200.
