(Sherburne, NY – Feb. 2013) In search of the perfect way to spend time with a special someone this Valentine’s Day? Skip the cards and flowers and tell your sweetheart to “Take A Hike!” Join Friends of Rogers on Feb. 13 for a “Sweetheart Snowshoe Hike” along one of the many scenic trails at Rogers Center.
The “Sweetheart Snowshoe Hike” benefits the heart in more ways than one, as it provides an excellent opportunity to combine fresh air and exercise, while also giving hikers the chance to connect with their sweetie through the beauty of the outdoors. Easy to learn and fun for all ages, snowshoe hiking is the perfect way to experience the winter forest, and is sure to leave any Valentine with a smile on their face.
“Here at Friends of Rogers we offer unique programs which emphasize both environmental education and outdoor recreation. Our goal is to provide engaging alternatives to sedentary winter activities,” said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. “This particular hiking program is a great opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones.”
The “Sweetheart Snowshoe Hike” will begin at the Visitor Center on state Route 80 in Sherburne, and will last from 1-2:30 p.m., with complimentary hot chocolate available after the hike has concluded.
