(Feb. 13, 2016) The Herkimer Generals bowling program traveled to face SUNY Adirondack on Tuesday (2/9) in their last conference match of the season. The men placed fifth (3104 Pins) and the women placed second (2730 Pins), giving them the same exact finish in the conference after five matches, with Matt Gladstone (Norwich, NY) and Molly McGuire (Solvay, NY) capturing spots on the All-Conference Team.
Helping Gladstone to fourth overall in the conference was a 220.33 average, totaling 3966 pins in 18 games. You had to be in the Top 6 in order to make the All-Conference Team. Gladstone’s high was 269 and hi-triple was 760.
Behind Gladstone was Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY), Hunter Guest (Middleburgh, NY), Ean Hayner (Kingston, NY), Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY) and Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY). Budd finished 19th in the conference (3615 total), Guest finished 26th (3550 total), Hayner finished 27th (3473 total), Sterling finished 33rd (3304 total) and Cross finished 37th (3096 total).
As for the women, McGuire was one of the Top 6 women in the conference, giving her a spot on the All-Conference Team. McGuire averaged 201.67 in 18 games which helped her total 3630 pins. The freshman’s hi-game was 243 and hi-triple was 646.
28 pins short of making it to the All-Conference Team was Korena Kinney (Taberg, NY). The freshman averaged 189.17 per game, just below Julie Collins of Schenectady who had a 190.67 average and the sixth spot. Kinney also had a hi-game of 266 and hi-triple of 677.
Rounding out the women was Megan Durgan (Rome, NY), Ashley Salisbury (Sherrill, NY) and Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY). Durgan finished in 12th (3292 total) with a 182.89 average, Salisbury finished in 16th (3194 total) with a 177.44 average and Buk finished 18th (3074 total) with a 170.78 average.
Regionals for the bowling program are this Sunday (2/14) at AMF Pin-0-Rama in Utica. Competition is slated to begin at 10 a.m. It will be the Generals third time this season competing at the facility.
