Hero-Image-Healthy-Herbs-from-Green-BlenderThis summer, we will start with Backyard Herbalism (June 11, July 9 and Aug. 6), an introduction to what you need to know to grow and use herbs and foods for health, daily and household uses, fun and environmental stewardship. Those who are interested may continue on to the more in-depth, yearlong apprenticeship if desired.

I am looking for a few good apprentices for this coming year. Learning about herbalism is a great endeavor; it is not just knowing what plants are good for various health issues, but also about becoming more familiar with the natural cycle of the year, about what your environment offers you and about understanding our role as stewards of our surroundings.

Join me in exploring our local herbs/weeds/flowers, in seeing your garden as medicine chest, in cultivating areas for the benefit of beneficial wildlife and insects and in how to have fun with plants.

I am offering a 20-percent discount to any Lebanon resident who signs up for this class. We are blessed to have a really rich variety of plant life here – weeds that have provided foods and medicines to generations of our townsfolk. I would enjoy teaching you what is right at our doorsteps. If interested, contact me at tinfin@juno.com – my website is not set up to do discounts.
