There will be full county presidential primaries for the Democratic Party and Republican Party Tuesday, April 19. If you wish to vote in the primary election, you must be registered by March 25 and a member of either the Democratic or Republican party.
In New York state, a registered voter remaining within the county cannot change their party affiliation at this time to vote in the primaries. According to Election Law 5-302.2, any party enrollment change made between 24 days before the General Election in 2015 and 25 days before the General Election in 2016 (Oct. 14) will not go into effect until Nov. 15. Voters can verify their registration and enrollment at http://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/votersearch.aspx.
Anyone who has moved since they last registered must re-register. Registration forms are available from the Madison County Board of Elections by calling (315) 366-2231 or may be downloaded from www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/boe. Forms are also available at post offices and town, city and village clerks offices.
If you wish to vote by absentee ballot, the absentee application forms are available from the Madison County Board of Elections by calling (315) 366-2231 and can also be downloaded from www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/boe.
