NFCA Cancer Awareness GameThe Morrisville State College softball team will be hitting the field April 4 through 10th on a mission: to “strikeout” cancer, during the National Collegiate Athletic Associations (NCAA) Division III Week.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) StrikeOut Cancer initiative is a national program though the NFCA to help raise funds and awareness to fight cancer.

Throughout the week, Morrisville State will be wearing commemorative jerseys (black with cancer awareness ribbons), beginning with their double-header against Hamilton College on Wednesday, April 6.

The NFCA StrikeOut Cancer initiative began more than 10 years ago, and to date has raised thousands of dollars to support the fight against cancer, allowing organizations to continue lifesaving efforts through research, education, advocacy and service.

Near to the hearts of the Mustangs, Morrisville State will be raising donations through a jersey auction taking place on their facebook page (facebook.com/MorrisvilleStateCollegeSoftball), general donations, and t-shirt sales among other activities.

Mustangs will continue their efforts throughout the remainder of the week as they host North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponents Penn College and Keuka College on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Division III week is an opportunity for member institutions to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and student-athletes on the campus and in the surrounding community.

To date, Morrisville State student-athletes have been involved in more than 25 different service initiatives, logging more than 1,800 hours.
