The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly award winners Monday afternoon, naming Morrisville State College’s Angela Marriott (Peekskill) and Jackie O’Sullivan (Cazenovia) the Women’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for the week ending March 6.
Marriott, selected as the offensive player of the week, opened the 2016 campaign with a huge game for the Mustangs offensively, registering a team high seven goals for seven points in the 17-1 victory.
She converted 77.8% of shots taken while adding two ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover to her tallies. Marriott’s first tally of the day proved to be the eventual game winner.
O’Sullivan earns defensive player of the week accolades for her play on both sides of the field in the season opening 17-1 win over Hilbert Friday.
In the victory, she tallied six ground balls, one draw control and causing three turnovers while contributing three goals in the offensive game. The junior posted the opening tally in transition and rattled off two more, one off a free position and another again in the transition game for the Mustangs.
