My Library: Monday, May 9, at 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room

Children ages 3+ and their families are invited to join Children’s Coordinator Jenna Wright-Martin for the season’s last installment of the “LEGO My Library” program. Using the Library’s collection of LEGO and DUPLO blocks, children and adults alike will have the opportunity to channel their creativity and build something spectacular.

The Library is a place for imagination and discovery. Programs like “LEGO My Library” align perfectly with the mission of this institution. Building allows children to see their imaginative musings come to life. Construction toys have significant educational benefits for children of all ages; they truly are the “building blocks” for success. Not only is hands-on play fun and exciting, it also helps to develop motor and spatial skills, creativity, critical thinking, social and language skills, and more!

No registration required.

Coloring, Cookies, and Conversation: Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room

The Cazenovia Public Library invites adults of all ages to switch off, relax, and color! Pick up a coloring book, munch on some cookies, and chat with friends for an evening of stress relief.

According to Nancy Monson of USA TODAY Best Years Magazine, a growing volume of research shows that creative activities can help to alleviate stress caused by the pressures of everyday life. Recent studies suggest that structured, rhythmic endeavors, such as coloring, are particularly beneficial as they ease you into a meditative state, allowing you to expel negative thoughts and worries from your mind.

We have coloring book designs that appeal to every interest — from whimsical doodles to circular mandalas, nature scenes, and fantasy worlds. Feel free to color outside the lines or leave a picture unfinished; there’s no judgment — just you treating yourself to a new healthy habit. Just ten to fifteen minutes of coloring can provide a sense of satisfaction that has a positive ripple effect throughout the day.

Cookies, conversation, and supplies provided.

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information of these and other Library events, call 655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
